- Hiking in my local park for many years.

Heads up: this page includes affiliate links which support our blog. I only recommend things I have personally used and vetted.

TIPS

  • My favorite loop starts along Edmond Rd. at Hassler Rd. From there I loop along the Dusky-footed Woodrat Trail and back on Hassler. It is one of the longer loops and you get a great sample of everything - older valley forest and sunny exposed chaparral.
  • The lower trails can get muddy after the rain and there can be lots of poison oak to watch out for. If you are nervous about poison oak, I recommend sticking to the wide, paved Hassler trail for an out-and-back.
  • Check the park website for status - currently there is construction closing some of the trails!
  • Be prepared to see lots of dogs. The park boasts 17 acres of off leash area for some very happy dogs.
  • The gear I use for these hikes is here.
